First workshop on the protection of civilians during armed conflicts in Paris

Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis along with various prominent personalities, who fight for Peace, participated in a workshop of experts with the topic: “Civilians’ security during armed conflicts” which was held in Paris, in September 2006.

This meeting was yet one more initiative of H.E. Mrs Suzanne Mubarak, President of “The Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement” aiming at the investigation of the deficiency of the worldwide peace organisations and international humanistic regulations to adequately protect the civilians as well as finding out efficient solutions towards their empowerment.

Institute for Peace Studies

The “Suzanne Mubarak Women’s International Peace Movement” launched the first “Institute of Peace Studies” in the Arab region in February 2006 dedicated to the promotion and enhancement of peace.

Hosted by the Bibliotheca Alexandrina, the Institute serves as the academic arm of the Movement developing training and research programs designed to disseminate practical ideas for peace, including its developmental and environmental aspects.

It also focuses on exploring ways and means of expanding the role of women and the young generation in the process of peace building. In realizing its objectives, the Institute will engage in partnerships,

The «Αthens Principles» in Davos
