“Marianna V. Vardinoyannis” Foundation cooperation with Athens College – Θερμοπύλες – Σαλαμίνα 2020
A Memorandum of Cooperation, in the context of the “Salamis – Thermopylae 2020” Anniversary Year was signed between the Administration and Management of the Athens College and the “Marianna V. Vardinoyannis” Foundation.
The President of the Honorary Committee for the “Salamis – Thermopylae 2020” Anniversary Year, Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis, on Friday, 17 January 2020, met with the Chairman of the Board of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation, Mr Nikos Tsavliris and the President of the Athens College, Mr Richard Jackson and discussed in detail about their collaboration and how to make students partakers of this important anniversary.
The two sides agreed on organising a Panhellenic student conference, with the participation also of expatriate Greek students, within the first quarter of 2020. The subject of the conference is “Dialogue or Clash of Cultures? On occasion of the 2500 year anniversary from the Battles of Thermopyale and Salamis”.
“I am very proud and moved that the students of our country are becoming partakers in this great effort to honour the 2500 years from the Battles of Salamis and Thermopylae. The organisation of a Panhellenic student conference, with the participation of Greek students from the Diaspora, sends a powerful message that the new generation embraces this important anniversary. I would like to warmly thank the Athens College, and its Management, which is always on our side to support our actions”, noted the President of the Honorary Committee, Mrs Marianna V. Vardinoyannis.
The Chairman of the Board of the Hellenic-American Educational Foundation, Mr. Nikos Tsavliris, on his part, noted: “It is truly a great honour for the college to collaborate once more with Mrs Vardinoyannis. Her cultural and charitable work is important, and we are happy for this collaboration”.
The Athens College President, Mr Richard Jackson, noted: “It is a great honour for the Athens College to be taking in the 2500-year anniversary from the Battles of Salamis and Thermopylae. It is a tremendous opportunity for our children and the children of other schools to learn about the history of the Battles of Salamis and Thermopylae”.
