‘THE PARTHENON’S EXPATRIATE GODDESSES’ EVENT MARKING INTERNATIONAL WOMEN’S DAY

UNESCO GOODWILL AMBASSADOR MARIANNA V. VARDINOYANNIS AT THE SPECIAL CEREMONY FOR UNESCO’s 75th ANNIVERSARY

Heads of State and Government and an impressive list of important personalities from around the world celebrated UNESCO’s 75th Anniversary at a special ceremony, on Friday, November 12th, 2021, at the Organization’s headquarters in Paris.

UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis attended this special ceremony which had a special symbolism as it takes place in pandemic conditions, sending a strong message of global unity.

Mrs. Vardinoyannis, upon her arrival, stated that: “The 75th Anniversary of UNESCO is a major milestone in the history of the Organization.

2021 UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors Meeting

With a view to the aftermath of the pandemic for all mankind, this year’s Meeting of UNESCO Goodwill Ambassadors was held today at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris, in the presence of prominent personalities from all over the world, including Greek Goodwill Ambassador, Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis.

The Director-General of UNESCO, Mrs. Audrey Azoulay, who opened the Meeting, thanked the Ambassadors for the passion and energy with which they serve the values ​​and programs of UNESCO, at a critical time for mankind, conveying its messages in every corner of the Earth.

VISIT OF THE GREEK PRIME MINISTER TO THE UNESCO HEADQUARTERS IN PARIS

H.E. the Prime Minister of the Hellenic Republic Mr. Kyriakos Mitsotakis visited the UNESCO headquarters in Paris on Monday, September 27th, 2021. The Prime Minister was welcomed by the Director-General of UNESCO Mrs. Audrey Azoulay, UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis and the Permanent Delegate of Greece to UNESCO H.E. Ambassador Maria Diamantopoulou.

The Greek Prime Minister was guided to the headquarters of the  Organization and a meeting followed  between the Greek delegation and the UNESCO officials where cultural issues were discussed, focused on the Greek cultural heritage.

MUNICIPALITY OF ERMIONIDA EVENTS

With a modest and simple ceremony, dedicated to the memory of Mikis Theodorakis andin the presence of H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic Ms. Katerina Sakellaropoulou, the 3rd“Marianna V. Vardinoyannis Culture Awards” were awarded by the Municipality of Ermionida, on Sunday, September 12th, 2021, while during the event H.E. the President of the Hellenic Republic was named Honorary Citizen of Ermionida.

The Mayor of Ermionida, Mr. Yannis Georgopoulos, together with the Goodwill Ambassador of UNESCO and Chair of the Awards Committee Mrs.

The President of the International Honorary Committee of the Anniversary Year “Thermopylae – Salamis 2020” & UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis was proclaimed Honorary Citizen of Salamis.

The President of the International Honorary Committee of the Anniversary Year “Thermopylae – Salamis 2020” & UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador Mrs. Marianna V. Vardinoyannis was proclaimed Honorary Citizen of Salamis, on Wednesday, July 21st 2021 at the City Hall of the island in an emotional ceremony holded by the Municipality of Salamis, following a proposal of the Mayor Mr. George Panagopoulos and a Municipal Council decision.

During the event, which took place in accordance with the current sanitary measures, the Mayor of Salamis presented the President of the Committee with an honorary plaque as an expression of esteem to Mrs.
